UCMP PARTNERING WITH AFRICAN UNION COMMISSION FOR THE MINERAL WEALTH CONFERENCE
With the 5th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference (MWC2016) less than a month away (scheduled for 5th to 6th October 2016) UCMP is happy to report the partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC) as the Platinum Sponsors
The Theme of the Conference is “Attracting exploration investment to Uganda’s mineral sector to realize its Maximum Value”
The only assured path to optimize value from the minerals resources is to attract responsible investments into the sector that lead to value addition and industrialization. We are aware that in order to attract responsible investments, it is important that a country is knowledgeable of its mineral wealth. We believe that this can be achieved through a comprehensive country exploration program that involves both the private and public sector investments.
Therefore, some of the discussions will focus on the establishment of country and regional mineral exploration initiatives that are PPP in nature. The AUC will bring in Speakers/experts from Brazil, Australia, Belgium, West Africa, Southern Africa, the World Bank, and African Mineral Development Centre among others to share experiences and discuss practical ways drawn from successful mining stories.
The other exciting news is that we have also secured sponsorship from UNDP which is running the ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme, a three-year, capacity building program that aims to build the profile, and improve the management, of Neglected Development Minerals (industrial minerals; construction materials; dimension stones; and semi-precious stones). The program is an initiative of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, financed by the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
We have also invited the President of Uganda to be the Guest of Honour at the Conference; we are yet confirm his presence but we are positive that he will accept our invitation.
Other confirmed Conference sponsors include:
