As Uganda and by extension, Africa, continue to make significant progress in the development of the minerals sector, it appears the international market is determined to curtail this growth.
A lot of this foreign interference is manifested in the work of some of the organizations that are alarmist in nature, more like agents of external forces aimed at stifling businesses and denying Africa its much-needed revenue over the years.
For entities that have previously benefited from the illicit trade of gold and many other minerals, streamlining of this business and countries being able to benefit from their natural resources is against their much-vested interests. Several publications continue to accuse Uganda of being a conduit for smuggled gold, where documentation is not required from anyone trading in the mineral.
