To attain the long-term target of Uganda Vision 2040 of an upper middle-income status, Uganda must stimulate high and sustainable growth and create employment through
industrialisation. It is no coincidence that the theme of NDPIII and IV is industrialisation. The economic life line industries expected to act as a springboard for advanced industrialisation include agro-processing, oil and gas, and iron and steel. The iron and steel industry is one of the identified key core projects proposed to be targeted in order to facilitate the achievement of Uganda’s Vision 2040.
